Astronomik ProPlanet 807 Clip-Filter EOS XL (Astronomik, SKU: 10202101) is a long-pass filter for near-infrared imaging, with a passband starting at 807 nm. In lunar and planetary photography it records wavelengths less affected by atmospheric turbulence than shorter wavelengths.
With the filter installed, the mirror remains raised and the optical viewfinder is unavailable. The frame may slightly obstruct the image corners; this effect can be corrected with flat frames.
Infrared photography requires the camera to be sensitive in this region; the standard built-in IR-blocking filter may prevent useful recording.
• records near-infrared images
• reduces the effects of seeing in lunar and planetary photography
• enables daylight IR photography with a suitably modified camera
• particularly useful with telescopes of approximately 250 mm aperture or larger
• installation in front of the sensor without tools or permanent body modification
• durable coatings resistant to scratches and moisture

Infrared recording helps reveal lunar and planetary detail when seeing is less favourable.
