Field flatness corrector (popularly: flattener) optimized for Skywatcher EvoGuide 50ED. It can also be used with short focal length refractors from other brands. Short focal length refractors, such as the EvoGuide 50ED, inherently have a very strong field curvature, which causes geometric distortion of star images off the optical axis. The field flattener based on a two-lens optical system is used to correct off-axis defects and allows you to obtain sharp images of stars in a large field of view. • construction: 2 elements, fully covered with layers • connection size from the eyepiece/camera side: 1.25" • backfocus / working distance: 17.5 mm • passage / inner diameter: 31.7 mm • disc / cover: 27 mm (suitable for APS-C) • diameter: 51 mm • length: 41 mm 60 months
>> FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS <<
Question : Can a filter be screwed onto the flattener?
Answer : The flattener itself does not have a filter thread, just like the Evoguide 50 ED finder. Many cameras have the option of mounting a 1.25" filter in the housing in front of the matrix (immediately or after applying the M42 / 1.25" reduction and it looks like in the picture below:
