The Kowa TSN-553 Prominar zoom 15 - 45x telescope is a professional optical instrument designed for the most demanding users. Thanks to the use of the best currently available materials, this product is characterized by a unique image quality and very high durability.
The spotting scope uses the highest quality optical system made of fluorite. This material, which occurs naturally near hydrothermal veins and in igneous rocks, is characterized by an extremely low refraction index (n = 1.4), unattainable even for the best types of optical glass. This unique feature of fluorite allows lenses made of it to obtain an image almost free of chromatic aberration, ensuring perfect color reproduction as well as excellent contrast. The use of Fluorite in the production of optical elements is the hallmark of Kowa. The material used for the production of the Kowa TSN-553 Prominar zoom 15 - 45x telescope is synthetic fluorite, which, unlike the naturally occurring mineral, is free from rare earth contamination, which gives a greenish or purple color. The disadvantage of fluorspar compared to optical glass is its extremely difficult processing. Calcium fluoride monocrystals have a tendency to chipping, which is why the Kowa company had to develop a unique technology for grinding and polishing lenses made of this material over the years, which led to the production of optical instruments unmatched in terms of image quality.
In order to further improve the image quality, the fluorite lenses are covered with a full multi-layer anti-reflective coating, resulting in a sharp and clear image even in poor lighting conditions.
