Astronomik MC-Clear 2" filter (Astronomik, SKU: 10231200) is a clear optical element with multilayer coatings, intended for dust protection and maintaining the optical thickness of an imaging train. It transmits a broad spectrum and does not serve as a UV- or IR-cut filter.
MC-Clear is useful when a clear plate is needed instead of an empty position in the optical train. Antireflection coatings reduce losses and unwanted reflections. In systems with refractive elements and a camera sensitive outside the visible spectrum, any required UV/IR filtration must be provided separately.
The filter has a 2" cell with an M48 × 0.75 thread. It fits accessories with a matching filter socket; the nominal cell size is not the diameter of the clear glass aperture.
