The Sky Rover Optics 76 mm SAP F/4.8 Full Frame Specialist Astrograph Petzval is a compact telescope designed specifically for wide-field astrophotography. This model from the SAP (Specialist Astrograph Petzval) series uses an advanced Petzval optical system that provides a native flat field without the need for an additional field flattener. The design delivers pinpoint stars across the entire field and excellent detail reproduction for deep-sky imaging.
The optical system is based on an air-spaced quintuplet Petzval design consisting of five elements in three groups, including two SD glass elements and one ED element. This configuration effectively minimizes chromatic aberration while maintaining high sharpness across the full field. The telescope supports an image circle up to 45 mm, making it compatible with full-frame cameras and smaller astrophotography sensors.
The fast F/4.8 focal ratio provides excellent light-gathering capability, enabling detailed deep-sky imaging with shorter exposure times. The integrated STR Multi-Function Focal Plane Adjuster allows precise adjustment of sensor tilt, camera rotation, and focal plane alignment, ensuring optimal image quality in demanding astrophotography setups.
The telescope is equipped with a 3.3" Rack & Pinion focuser with dual-speed control and threaded photographic interfaces M54 × 0.75 and M48 × 0.75. The mechanical construction includes a CNC-machined aluminum body, mounting rings, a retractable dew shield, and a multi-function handle with mounting points for additional accessories.
