The Sky Rover Optics 106 mm MA Multipurpose Astrograph is a versatile telescope designed for both astrophotography and visual observation. The 106MA is the inaugural model in the MA (Multipurpose Astrograph) series, combining high optical quality with compatibility for a wide range of astronomical accessories. The telescope features a native flat-field optical design achieved by integrating a triplet objective with an internal field-correcting element into a unified optical system, providing sharp images across the field without requiring an external field flattener.
The optical system uses an air-spaced quadruplet design with two ED glass elements, effectively reducing chromatic aberration and delivering high image quality. The telescope supports an image circle up to 44 mm, making it suitable for full-frame cameras at prime focus without requiring complex backfocus calculations. An optional 0.8× reducer further expands the field of view while maintaining good field correction.
With a focal ratio of F/7, the telescope provides a good balance between brightness and ease of focusing, making it relatively forgiving in terms of focus precision. The 106MA is equipped with a precision 3.2" Rack & Pinion dual-speed focuser and a CAA (Camera Angle Adjuster) rotator, allowing convenient camera orientation during astrophotography. The mechanical structure includes CNC tube rings, a Vixen dovetail plate, and a multi-function handle with mounting points for accessories such as guiders or finder scopes.
