The Sky Rover Optics 66 mm MA Multipurpose Astrograph is the most compact telescope in the MA (Multipurpose Astrograph) series, designed as a versatile instrument for both wide-field astrophotography and visual observation. Its native flat-field optical design integrates a triplet objective with an internal field-correcting element, forming a unified optical system that delivers sharp stars across the entire field without requiring an external field flattener.
The optical system uses an air-spaced quadruplet design with two ED glass elements, effectively reducing chromatic aberration while maintaining high contrast and resolution. The telescope provides an image circle up to 44 mm, allowing direct use with full-frame cameras at prime focus without complicated backfocus calculations. An optional 0.8× reducer further expands the field of view while maintaining good field correction.
With a focal ratio of f/7, the telescope provides a balanced combination of brightness and focusing tolerance, making it easier to achieve precise focus. The 66MA is equipped with a precision 2.8" Rack & Pinion dual-speed focuser and a CAA (Camera Angle Adjuster) rotator, allowing convenient camera orientation during imaging. The aluminum tube features internal knife-edge baffles to improve contrast, while CNC rings, a Vixen dovetail plate, and a multi-function handle provide multiple mounting points for accessories such as guiders or astro computers.
