The Sky Rover Optics 70 mm F/5 Super Astrograph V4 is a compact telescope designed specifically for wide-field astrophotography. Its Petzval optical design provides a native flat field without requiring an external field flattener, simplifying the imaging setup while maintaining high image quality across the entire field. The telescope supports an image circle up to 45 mm, making it suitable for full-frame cameras.
The optical system consists of four elements in four groups and incorporates special optical materials, including Super ED glass and lanthanum elements, which help reduce chromatic aberration and improve contrast. Fully Multi-Coated (FMC) optics enhance light transmission and reduce internal reflections, which is particularly important for deep-sky imaging.
The 70 SA V4 is equipped with a 2.8" Rack & Pinion dual-speed focuser and a CAA (Camera Angle Adjuster) rotator for convenient framing. The V4 revision introduces an improved focal plane controller design, providing more stable and effective tilt adjustment. The telescope features an aluminum tube with a retractable dew shield, along with tube rings, a carrying handle, and a dovetail mounting plate for easy installation on equatorial mounts.
