The SharpStar SCA310 is a fast Cassegrain reflector designed for advanced deep-sky astrophotography. With a 310 mm aperture and a fast f/3.8 focal ratio, it offers excellent light-gathering power and a wide, well-corrected imaging field optimized for full-frame and medium-format cameras.
The telescope features a high-precision aspherical (parabolic) primary mirror, requiring advanced polishing and testing techniques to effectively eliminate spherical aberration and deliver sharp, round stars. The secondary mirror is made of fused silica glass, providing exceptional thermal stability. Both mirrors are coated with enhanced aluminum layers offering reflectivity above 95%.
A 3-inch triplet coma corrector with one ED glass element is integrated at the rear of the tube. This system effectively corrects coma and field curvature, delivering sharp stars from the center to the edge of the frame. The optical design is optimized for medium-format sensors with a 55 mm image circle and fully covers full-frame sensors with nearly 100% illumination.
The tube is made of carbon fiber, significantly reducing overall weight and minimizing focus shift caused by temperature changes. The material provides high rigidity and dimensional stability. Three cooling fans are installed at the rear of the tube to accelerate thermal equilibrium of the primary mirror.
The SCA310 is equipped with a high-rigidity 3.5-inch rack-and-pinion focuser with a 28 mm travel range and a 1:10 fine focus mechanism. A front-mounted 360° rotator prevents cable twisting during framing. Rear connections include M68, M54, and M48 threads, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of imaging equipment. The M48 adapter includes a built-in 2" filter thread.
The top of the tube features a hollow carry handle with mounting slots for additional accessories. The bottom is fitted with a 405 mm CNC-machined Losmandy-style dovetail plate with a widened and thickened design for stable mounting on equatorial mounts.
