Oberwerk Sport ED 8x42 wide-angle waterproof binoculars are high-quality roof prism binoculars designed for nature observation, field use, birdwatching, hiking and occasional astronomical observation. This model combines a wide field of view, FK-61 ED optics, high-transmission coatings and a lightweight, durable magnesium-alloy body.
The FK-61 ED objective lenses effectively reduce chromatic aberration, improving colour rendition and image contrast when observing high-contrast subjects. This is especially useful when watching birds, wildlife, landscapes, branches against a bright sky and bright astronomical objects.
The binoculars use roof prisms with dielectric and phase coatings, while all air-to-glass surfaces are fully multi-coated. This optical design provides good light transmission, high contrast and a natural image, also in lower light conditions.
The 8x42 model offers steady magnification, an 8.1° true field of view and a 5.25 mm exit pupil. The wide field of view makes it easier to follow moving subjects, while the 2 m minimum focus distance allows comfortable observation of objects located close to the observer.
The body is made of magnesium alloy and protected by textured dark green rubber armour. The binoculars are nitrogen-filled and waterproof, making them resistant to internal fogging and more demanding field conditions. The anodized aluminium focus wheel and diopter adjustment ring improve durability and operating precision.
