The Oberwerk 100XL-ED astronomical binocular is the largest and most advanced model in the XL ED series, designed for demanding observers. Thanks to its 100 mm ED FK-61 objectives, 24 mm effective-aperture prisms, and lightweight magnesium construction, the instrument delivers bright, high-contrast images free from chromatic aberration, even at high magnifications up to 94×.
Despite the large aperture, the binocular weighs only 5.67 kg, making it surprisingly portable and easy to transport. The body is waterproof and nitrogen-purged, suitable for use in a wide range of weather conditions.
The 560 mm focal length works together with the included 14 mm eyepieces, featuring an 8-element optical design and 70° AFOV, providing a standard magnification of 40× and a true field of 1.75°. The 18 mm eye relief ensures comfortable viewing, including for eyeglass wearers, while the 2.5 mm exit pupil provides optimal brightness.
Standard 1.25″ helical focusers allow the use of a wide range of astronomical eyepieces, significantly expanding observational capabilities. The 50–80 mm IPD range makes the instrument suitable also for users with non-standard interpupillary distances.
