The Celestron PowerSeeker 127 EQ-MD (SKU: 22039) is the largest model in the PowerSeeker series and an excellent choice for beginners looking for a versatile and capable telescope. This Newtonian reflector with a 127 mm aperture and 1000 mm focal length gathers significantly more light than small entry-level refractors, providing detailed views of the Moon, planets, bright deep-sky objects, and—when used with a proper solar filter—features on the Sun.
The telescope is equipped with a standard 1.25" focuser, compatible with a wide range of eyepieces and accessories. The optical tube is mounted on an equatorial EQ mount designed for astronomical observations. After proper polar alignment, the mount allows smooth tracking of celestial objects. The EQ-MD version includes a motor drive on the right ascension axis, which compensates for Earth’s rotation and greatly improves observing comfort at higher magnifications.
The set also includes a smartphone adapter, enabling basic astrophotography through the eyepiece—ideal for capturing the Moon and bright planets. Thanks to its moderate weight and aluminium tripod, the telescope remains portable and can easily be transported to darker observing sites.
