Prodigy Microfocuser (PegasusAstro, SKU: PEG-PRDG-FOCUSER) is a robust, full 3-inch robotic focuser designed for precise and remote telescope focusing in astrophotography setups. Its mechanical design is built for heavy imaging trains - the manufacturer specifies up to 10 kg payload handling with dead-accurate positioning and zero flexure. The drawtube provides 25 mm of travel and a clear 76 mm (3") aperture, helping to maintain an unvignetted optical path when used with larger accessories.

Unlike classic Crayford or rack-and-pinion focusers, Prodigy uses a dedicated mechanical focusing architecture with an embedded stepper motor. This design aims at stability, repeatability and low maintenance, offering smooth, low-noise operation and zero motor backlash - a key factor for reliable autofocus routines and accurate V-curve points. The focuser also supports adjustable rotation on both sides, making it easier to fit the unit to the telescope and to set the camera to the desired orientation.

On the telescope side, Prodigy accepts interchangeable adapters mounted with 4 × M4 screws. The 3-inch drawtube is intended to work with multiple telescope types depending on the selected adapter, including selected SCT, RC and refractor configurations. On the camera side, optional adapters are available (e.g. an M68 female adapter). In addition, Prodigy integrates USB and 12 V power outputs on the focuser body, allowing you to connect nearby devices (filter wheel, guide camera, motorised OAG, etc.) and keep cabling tidy around the imaging train.
