The S2 7 nm photographic filter in a 2" mount (PegasusAstro, SKU: PEG-FLTR-2M-S2) is an extra narrowband filter designed for nebula imaging in the Sulfur II (SII) emission line. It provides a 7 nm bandwidth centered at 672 nm, corresponding to the SII emission line, while effectively suppressing unwanted background light.
The filter reduces the transmission of artificial light produced by high- and low-pressure sodium and mercury vapor lamps, as well as unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emission in the atmosphere (skyglow). This makes it well suited for high-contrast narrowband imaging, especially in SHO (Hubble palette) workflows.
It features 1/4 wavefront polishing and multilayer anti-reflection coatings. The parfocal construction supports multi-filter imaging without the need to refocus when switching filters. The 2" mounted cell with an M48 thread ensures compatibility with standard filter wheels and astrophotography adapters.
