Daystar Filters Metal Solar Filter with Poly White Light Film – size 180 (SKU: WLF180) is a white-light solar filter designed for safe solar observing and imaging with telescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes and camera lenses. The construction combines a durable metal mounting cell with Thousand Oaks Solarlite solar film, allowing safe viewing or imaging of the Sun with a warm yellow-orange appearance.
The Solarlite film has an optical density of ND 5, blocking approximately 99.999% of incoming solar radiation. It meets the transmission and quality requirements of the ISO 12312-2:2015 standard for direct solar observation. The film consists of a metallic reflective coating on a black polymer substrate, ensuring that minor scratches or pinholes do not compromise safety as long as the film itself is not torn or punctured.
