ZWO EAFN (Electronic Automatic Focuser) is the new generation of ZWO’s popular electronic focuser, introduced in June 2025. This version features USB-C connectivity and an improved, durable metal housing while retaining compact dimensions and high driving force. The ZWO EAFN is designed for remote and precise focusing in telescopes, both for astrophotography and visual observation. It is compatible with a wide range of focusers and software platforms, enabling automatic focusing, temperature compensation, and manual control.
• new generation ZWO EAF, introduced in June 2025
• modern USB-C connector for power and data communication
• compact, high-durability metal housing
• maximum load capacity up to 5 kg (11.02 lbs), confirmed by manufacturer testing
• compatible with ASIAIR, ZWO cameras, and PC/Mac computers
• full compatibility with ASCOM and INDI
• broad software support: ASIStudio, ASIAIR, SharpCap, SGP, Maxim DL, TheSkyX, FireCapture, Nebulosity, FocusMax, and others
• optional manual control via the EAF-HC hand controller
• support for the external EAF temperature sensor
• mountable on many focusers, including curved designs, with dedicated adapters (e.g. Takahashi FSQ85, FSQ106, TOA-130NFB)
• precision mechanism minimizing vibrations during focusing
• ZWO EAFN drive unit (2025 version)
• flexible coupling
• mounting bracket with slotted hole
• set of M4 screws
• 2 mm Allen key
• USB-C cable
• installation manual
• maximum load capacity: 5 kg
• power supply: 5V / 2.0A (via USB-C)
• communication port: USB-C
• control interface: ASCOM, INDI
• system compatibility: Windows, macOS, ASIAIR, Android (via ASIAIR), iOS (via ASIAIR)
• weight: 277 g
• dimensions: 59 × 52 × 41 mm
• temperature sensor port: 2-pin
• hand controller port: 3.5 mm jack
• ASIAIR power supply: the USB-C “PC” port on ASIAIR provides data only and does not supply power – to ensure proper operation, a USB-B to USB-C cable must be used
• the increased torque of the new EAFN motor results in higher power requirements compared to previous versions
• therefore, the new version is not compatible with the first-generation ASIAIR or the second-generation ASIAIR Pro, as their USB ports cannot deliver sufficient power
• for stable and reliable operation, the use of the new-generation ASIAIR is recommended
• new coupling shaft standard: the shaft diameter has been changed from 5 mm to 4 mm due to motor redesign
• mechanical compatibility: the new version is not fully compatible with 5 mm couplings – for Takahashi, C8, and C11 telescopes, a 4 mm coupling must be used
