The Celestron CGEM-II 800 RASA telescope is essentially an astrograph for wide-angle astrophotography!

The astrograph makes it very easy to create great images with a DSLR or CCD astronomical camera. The new optical design features a four-lens corrector, incorporating glass elements that suppress chromatic aberration and other defects such as coma and field curvature. Never before has an astrograph in this price range delivered such optical quality and spot size across the entire image field. The design also provides very little vignetting.

Very bright 8" f/2 optics - provides a sharp image in APS format and is optimized even for matrices with a diagonal of up to 70 mm. Thanks to this, we get the possibility of using very short exposure times. This astrograph is 20 times brighter than the standard version at f/10. Thirty seconds at f/2.2 corresponds to up to ten minutes at f/10. It is also worth mentioning the huge field of view that we get at a focal length of 400 mm

The quieter 12V MagLev fan reduces the cooling phase, protects against dust and allows for optimal air circulation in the optical tube. The set includes various adapters for popular camera brands.

RASA stands for Rowe-Ackermann-Schmidt Astrograph - Dave Rowe and Mark Ackermann are renowned designers of optical instruments.

The telescope is mounted on a CGEM-II mount. Version II features a stronger tripod, USB port, double dovetail clamp in Losmandy and Vixen standards, improved ergonomics and firmware!

The tried and tested features of the CGEM remain unchanged, and it remains a highly regarded astrophotography mount – securely holding Celestron SC optical tubes up to 11 inches (279 mm) in aperture for astrophotography applications. Of course, you can also use the CGEM with other brands of telescopes, whether they are refractors or mid-sized Newtonians. The saddle clamp with its dual clamping mechanism fits two popular prism rail formats (also known as dovetail rails). The saddle clamp features two large, handy screws that are easy to operate even when wearing gloves. Because the clamp clamps the prism rail along its entire length, and not just through the screws themselves, no damage to the rail occurs during mounting.

Additional benefits of CGEM II:

• the tripod legs are marked, which allows you to extend them to a fixed length and easily remember its preferred value
• built-in Celestron All-Star Polar Alignment system for aligning the mount with any star; you no longer need a polar scope and you don't have to align to the north separately; you don't even need a clear view of the Polar Star! The polar height adjustment screw is large and convenient; this is an important advantage because the polar height adjustment must be made with the weight of the optical unit in mind
• a huge database of deep-sky objects, cataloged by name and catalog number; most of the famous double, triple and quadruple stars, as well as variable stars and solar system objects
• Programmable Periodic Error Correction (PPEC)
• remote control with a two-line, 16-character LCD with backlit buttons; the remote control is equipped with a USB port for easy connection to a PC to update the firmware of the installation and the remote control
• Tracking beyond the meridian up to 30° - long-term astrophotography exposures do not have to be interrupted abruptly
