The Sky Rover Optics 150 ED BINO STRAIGHT is a large-format binocular telescope with a straight-through viewing system, designed for astronomical and nature observations. Two 150 mm objective lenses provide a very large light-collecting area, enabling binocular observation of faint celestial objects and distant terrestrial targets.
Each objective has a two-element, air-spaced design described by the manufacturer as apochromatic. In the 150 ED variant, one element is made of low-dispersion ED glass, reducing chromatic aberration and improving contrast and colour reproduction. This is not the Super ED glass used in the more expensive 150 APO variant. All optical surfaces are treated with fully multi-coated FMC anti-reflection coatings.
The binoculars have an 840 mm focal length and an f/5.6 focal ratio. The package includes two UF30 mm eyepieces providing 28× magnification and an exit pupil of approximately 5.4 mm. The manufacturer specifies a 2.7° field of view. The large Porro II prism assembly provides a 40 mm exit aperture, while the blackened interiors of the optical tubes help reduce unwanted reflections and stray light.
The binoculars are equipped with two independent helical focusing mechanisms and coaxial eyepiece locking rings. The standard 2" sockets accept 50.8 mm eyepieces, while the included adapters allow 1.25" eyepieces to be installed. Interpupillary distance can be adjusted between 62 and 76 mm.
The optical tubes, excluding the eyepieces, meet the IPX7 waterproof rating and, according to the manufacturer, can withstand immersion in 1 m of water for 30 minutes. The design includes retractable dew shields, a carrying handle with a simple alignment sight, mounting holes for a finder and a base whose width conforms to the Losmandy standard.
