Astronomik H-alpha 6nm CCD 31 mm Filter (SKU: 10212531 / 8h00fp) is a narrowband emission filter designed for imaging hydrogen nebulae. It records light emitted at the H-alpha 656 nm line and significantly increases contrast between the object and the sky background. The filter is designed for use in filter wheels that accept 31 mm filters.

With its 6 nm bandwidth, the filter effectively blocks unwanted light at other wavelengths from UV to IR. It suppresses emission lines from sodium and mercury vapor lamps, natural airglow and a large portion of moonlight, allowing high-contrast imaging both under dark skies and in heavily light-polluted environments. When imaging faint objects in dense Milky Way star fields, the 6 nm version helps reduce the number of recorded stars and enhances faint nebular structures.

The 6 nm version is particularly useful when imaging from extremely light-polluted locations or when using cameras with very low dark current. This filter must not be used for solar observation.

Key features

• narrowband H-alpha filter for imaging hydrogen nebulae
• transmission band centered on the H-alpha 656 nm line
• 6 nm bandwidth
• 31 mm filter format designed for filter wheels
• significantly increases contrast between the object and the sky background
• blocks sodium and mercury emission lines, natural airglow and a large portion of moonlight
• suppresses unwanted light from UV to IR
• especially useful under strong light pollution and during full Moon imaging
• helps reveal faint nebular structures in dense Milky Way star fields
• Astronomik MFR coating ensures high contrast and minimal stray light

Included items

• Astronomik H-alpha 6nm CCD 31 mm filter
• durable filter storage box

Technical specifications

• type: H-alpha narrowband filter
• diameter: 31 mm
• central wavelength: 656 nm
• bandwidth: 6 nm
• guaranteed transmission at the H-alpha line: over 90%
• typical transmission at the H-alpha line: 93%
• glass thickness: 1 mm
