An artificial star is a specialized accessory that allows you to check and make corrections to the telescope's collimation without having to go outside and wait for dusk to come. TS-Optics Artificial Star uses an intense LED light source to produce a spot with a diameter of 22 µm. The device is equipped with the possibility of smooth brightness adjustment, and the whole device is closed in a solid, aluminum housing. Practical note: In order to properly collimate or control optical aberrations such as astigmatism or coma, an artificial star can be placed a short distance from the telescope. However, please note that in such a case, proper focusing may require the use of appropriate spacer rings. For spherical aberrations, the distance to the artificial star in meters can be calculated by assuming one-third of the telescope's aperture in millimeters (eg, 66 m for a 200 mm aperture).
