Svbony SA401 Pro APO 15–35x56 spotting scope is a compact angled model designed for birdwatching, wildlife observation, landscape viewing and observing distant terrestrial objects. It combines continuously adjustable 15–35x magnification, a wide field of view and a lightweight, durable magnesium-alloy body.
The three-element apochromatic objective consists of two FCD1 extra-low-dispersion glass lenses and one high-refractive-index lanthanum glass element. This construction effectively reduces chromatic aberration and unwanted color fringing, improving sharpness, contrast and natural color reproduction.
The non-removable eyepiece features an advanced configuration of 11 lenses in 7 groups, incorporates a field-flattening element and provides an apparent field of view ranging from 59° at 15x magnification to 75° at 35x magnification. The wide field makes finding objects and tracking birds or other moving subjects easier. Eye relief of 16–17 mm provides comfortable viewing, including for users wearing glasses.
The K9 roof prism and anti-reflective multi-coatings on all optical surfaces provide a stated light transmission of 92%. Coating reflectivity is below 0.5% on the prism and below 0.3% on the lenses across the 400–700 nm range. Blackened lens edges further reduce stray light, glare and ghost images.
Large rubber-armored focusing and magnification rings provide comfortable operation, including when wearing gloves. The full coarse focusing range requires only 1.5 turns, while the minimum focusing distance is approximately 3 m. A 1/4"-20 UNC tripod thread allows the scope to be mounted on most photographic and observation tripods.
The one-piece magnesium-alloy body is nitrogen filled and protected against water in accordance with the IPX7 rating. This reduces the risk of internal fogging and enables observation during rain and in high humidity. The scope weighs 1200 g and can operate at temperatures from -20°C to +50°C. It is also compatible with the Svbony SC002 Wi-Fi camera, allowing photographs and videos of observations to be recorded.
