Astronomik OIII 12nm CCD Clip-Filter EOS APS-C (SKU: 10201092 / 8h00ii) is a narrowband emission filter designed for imaging nebulae that emit light in the oxygen [OIII] lines. It records radiation at wavelengths of 496 nm and 501 nm, significantly increasing contrast between the object and the sky background. The clip-filter version is designed for direct installation in Canon EOS cameras with APS-C sensors.

The filter effectively suppresses light pollution caused by sodium and mercury vapor lamps, natural airglow and a large portion of moonlight. This allows high-contrast nebula imaging both under dark skies and in heavily light-polluted locations.

The narrow 12 nm transmission band blocks almost all unwanted light at other wavelengths – from ultraviolet to infrared. The filter enables detailed imaging of planetary nebulae, star-forming regions and supernova remnants.

When combined with H-alpha and SII filters, it enables the creation of emission-line images in the HSO palette commonly used in deep-sky astrophotography.

Key features

• narrowband OIII filter for imaging emission nebulae
• transmission band covering the [OIII] lines at 496 nm and 501 nm
• 12 nm bandwidth
• clip-filter version for Canon EOS APS-C cameras
• effective suppression of light pollution
• high contrast imaging of faint nebula structures
• blocking of unwanted light from UV to IR
• Astronomik MFR coating for high transmission and minimal stray light

Included items

• Astronomik OIII 12nm CCD Clip-Filter EOS APS-C
• durable protective filter box

Technical specifications

• type: OIII narrowband filter
• emission lines: 496 nm, 501 nm
• bandwidth (FWHM): 12 nm
• compatibility: Canon EOS APS-C cameras
• guaranteed transmission at OIII line (501 nm): over 90%
• typical transmission at OIII line: 95%
• glass thickness: 1 mm
• material: finely polished optical glass free of streaks, internal stress and bubbles
• coating: Astronomik MFR
• focal ratio range: f/3–f/∞
• coating durability: highly resistant to scratches, humidity and aging
• optical characteristics: parfocal, diffraction-limited

The Astronomik OIII 12nm CCD filter allows astrophotographers to capture oxygen-emission nebula structures with excellent contrast and fine detail even under challenging observing conditions.
