The Player One Photosphere 10nm 1.25″ Filter (SKU: PS125 ) is a narrowband “green-continuum” filter designed for imaging the solar photosphere in white light. It only allows a narrow band of ≈ 10nm around 540nm through, blocking the rest of the spectrum. This makes convective granules, spots, and flares more distinct, and seeing affects the image much less than with a broadband UV/IR-cut filter. The filter works great with both monochrome and color Player One cameras, increasing contrast and sharpness at short exposure times.
• FWHM ≈ 10 nm transmission band located around 540 nm
• transmission in the band > 90% – high contrast of granulation and spots
• spectrum blocking outside the range < 0.1% in UV and IR – reduction of aberrations and blurring
• multi-layer dielectric coatings (hard-coated) – resistance to moisture and scratches
• λ/4 optical substrate, parallel ≤ 30″ – no wavefront degradation at large apertures
• 1.25″ thin frame (M28.5 × 0.6) – compatible with FD MINI Player One filter wheels and drawer
• Diameter/frame: 1.25″ – M28.5 × 0.6 thread, 5 mm profile
• substrate: optical glass, thickness 2 mm
• central band (CWL): 540 nm ± 1 nm
• full width half-width (FWHM): 10 nm ± 0.5 nm
• Bandwidth transmission: > 90%
• Bandwidth lock: < 0.1% @ 350–520 nm and 560–1100 nm
• coatings: hard-coated dielectric, double-sided
• flatness: λ/4 (632.8 nm)
• clear diameter: 26 mm
• weight: 9 g
The Photosphere 10nm filter is an ideal tool for recording photospheric detail using telescopes with an ND 3.0 solar filter (full aperture or Herschel). It also works well as a high-resolution green channel in planetary and lunar imaging setups, where the narrow 540nm band reduces the effects of atmospheric turbulence and chromatic aberration.
