The Dual Motor Focus Controller (PegasusAstro, SKU: PEG-DMFC) is a versatile controller designed for fast, reliable, and accurate telescope focusing. It supports both stepper motors (unipolar and bipolar) and DC motors, making it compatible with a wide range of focusers and astrophotography setups.
The controller offers two motor operating modes that can be selected via software: stepper motor mode for absolute position focusing and DC motor mode using PWM control. The selected mode can be stored in the controller’s internal EEPROM memory, allowing flexible use with different motor types.
Operation is possible either via PC using a USB 2.0 connection or manually through the built-in rotary encoder, which emulates a traditional focuser knob. Pressing the encoder reduces motor speed by a factor of 1:10 for fine focusing. A dual-colour LED (green / yellow) indicates speed and status and can be enabled or disabled via software.
Backlash compensation is implemented at firmware level to correct mechanical play in focusing systems. An external digital temperature sensor is included, allowing temperature monitoring via the supplied software or ASCOM driver. The Dual Motor Focus Controller fully supports ASCOM 6 and INDI.
