The series name comes from the advanced CGEM II equatorial mount used here. This mount is a modernized successor to the long-known CGEM mount line, combining compact dimensions with high functionality and load-bearing capacity. The CGEM II mount is perfect for amateur applications in visual observations and astrophotography. Positioned between the Advanced VX mount and the new CGX series mounts. The series includes Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes with 8", 9.25" and 11" apertures and a new product - a Maksutov telescope with a 7" aperture.
The top-of-the-range CGEM-II 1100 telescope in a Schmidt-Cassegrain EdgeHD aplanatic optical system with StarBright XLT optical coating and a computerized CGEM-II equatorial mount. Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with a diameter of 279mm (11") and a focal length of 2800mm. Despite its large diameter, it is still a very compact telescope, and its usability is high. When equipped with a T-Adapter and T-Ring, the tube can be used as an efficient astrograph. The Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope is a device with a universal light intensity and a large focal length. A great advantage of such a telescope is the possibility of significantly extending the focus outside the tube, which allows the use of elements with a large optical path - binocular attachments, filter wheels, flip-mirror attachments, focal reducers, etc. Innovative Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope in aplanatic version with modified aspherical correction plate and modern StarBright XLT coatings. New technology designated as EDGE-HD allows to obtain flat and defect-free field of view ideal for astrophotography purposes. The new system in particular reduces coma and improves resolution at the edge of the field of view. The new system allows to obtain excellent results even in the case of large format CCD cameras - correct images are obtained even for matrices with a diagonal of 52 mm. Compared to standard optical tubes, EDGE HD tubes also have a number of mechanical improvements. Among others, the mounting of the main mirror has been improved, eliminating the so-called mirror shift. In the rear part of the telescope there are ventilation holes with special filters preventing dust from entering the tube.
This also results in much faster temperature equalization inside the tube with the ambient temperature. All EDGE-HD telescopes are equipped with the Fastar system, which allows the CCD camera to be placed directly in the primary focus of the telescope. The collimation procedure has also been simplified, which can now be performed with knobs without the use of tools. • telescope optical system: Schmidt-Cassegrain • Mounting type: Equatorial • aperture: 279 mm • focal length: 2800 mm • aperture: f/10.0 • star range: 14.8 magnitude • maximum usable magnification: 558 x • maximum resolving power (Rayleigh): 0.51" • maximum resolving power (Dawes): 0.42" • Collective capacity: 1589 x • tube weight: 13.0 kg • assembly weight: 27.1 kg • counterweights: 2 x 7.7 kg • total weight: 48 kg • tube length: 610 mm • tube diameter: 312 mm • tripod type: steel 2" • stand height: 135 - 165 cm • assembly control: NexStar Go-To • type of eyepiece: SCT/MAK • Focuser diameter: 2" • Secondary mirror diameter: 95 mm • central obstruction: 34% • coatings: StarBright XLT
