Photos from description

Sky-Watcher 203/1200 DOB 8" Pyrex telescope (Dob 8" Classic 200P) (Sky-Watcher, SKU: SW-1302) is a Newtonian reflector with a 203 mm aperture and a focal length of 1200 mm, mounted on a manually operated Dobsonian base. Its optical parameters make it suitable for visual observations of the Moon, planets, double stars, open and globular clusters, nebulae and brighter galaxies.

The 203 mm primary mirror collects more than 800 times as much light as the human eye. This aperture provides sufficient light-gathering power for observing numerous deep-sky objects while also allowing detailed views of the Moon and the planets of the Solar System.

The primary mirror is made of Pyrex borosilicate glass with a low coefficient of thermal expansion. This material limits changes in the shape of the mirror as the temperature changes, helping to maintain stable optical performance.

The optical tube is mounted on a stable Dobsonian base and is moved manually in altitude and azimuth. The telescope is equipped with a 2" Crayford focuser with a 1.25" adapter and T2 thread, as well as a 9 × 50 optical finderscope with crosshairs.

Safety information

Never point the telescope at the Sun or look directly at the Sun without a certified, undamaged solar filter securely installed over the front of the optical tube. Direct observation of the Sun without appropriate protection can cause immediate and permanent eye damage.

The large aperture, stable Dobsonian mount and included wide-angle eyepieces make this telescope a practical instrument for visual lunar, planetary and deep-sky observations.

This is my first telescope and WOW! It is well built, sturdy and yet transportable thanks to the handle. It comes with a smartphone support for taking pictures. The assembly was very easy and it is usable literally out of the box. Aim at the moon and there it is!
