ZWO ASI 678MM is a compact monochrome astronomical camera dedicated to use in astrophotography. This camera is a development of the ASI 178MC model, which reduces the noise level and eliminates the amp-glow effect.
The heart of this camera is a monochrome Sony IMX678 matrix, using back illumination (BI) and Sony Starvis 2™ technology, thanks to which it is characterized by extremely high sensitivity in both the visible and near infrared range. This sensor is also characterized by a negligibly low level of reading noise, which for an amplification of 8 dB has a value of only 1 e. Combined with an advanced 12-bit analog-to-digital converter, this guarantees breathtaking results in almost all conditions.
The whole thing is enclosed in a light and compact housing made of aluminum and finished in the red color typical of ZWO products.
