ZWO Seestar TC20 tripod with ZWO Seestar TH10 head is a complete mounting kit intended for use with compatible Seestar telescopes in equatorial (EQ) mode, as well as with still cameras, video cameras and other optical devices. It combines a lightweight tripod with carbon fibre legs and a head featuring fluid damping and a removable quick-release plate. It is a practical solution for portable astrophotography, landscape photography and filming.

The TC20 tripod provides a stable base with a low net weight. The legs, made from carbon fibre, combine rigidity with lightness, while their independent adjustment makes it easier to level the setup on uneven ground. The height of the tripod itself can be adjusted within a range of 235–365 mm, excluding the protruding mounting screw. Rubber feet improve grip on the ground and reduce slipping when positioning the equipment.

When folded, the TC20 measures 265 mm in length, excluding the mounting screw, making it easy to take into the field. The specified weight of the tripod is 600 ± 30 g, while the TH10 head weighs 411 g. The combined nominal weight of both components is therefore approximately 1.01 kg. The supplied drawstring carrying bag makes the tripod easier to store and transport.

When used with a Seestar, the kit serves as an adjustable base that allows the telescope's axis of rotation to be pointed towards the celestial pole. Correct polar alignment allows you to avoid the field rotation inherent in alt-azimuth tracking, which is important during extended imaging sessions of nebulae, galaxies and star clusters. Preparing the setup involves levelling the tripod, adjusting the position of the head and completing the polar alignment procedure by following the instructions in the Seestar app. Once the head has been locked, objects are tracked by the motors of the telescope operating in EQ mode.

The TH10 head with fluid damping allows smooth, controlled repositioning of the mounted device. It offers a full 360° horizontal pan range and tilt adjustment from −90° to +90°. Independent pan and tilt locking knobs allow both axes to be secured once positioning is complete. The body is made from CNC-machined aluminium alloy, providing durability while maintaining compact dimensions.

Pan and tilt angle scales make it easier to position the equipment initially and return to a previously used position. The bubble level in the head helps check levelling, while a detachable handle with a soft grip provides comfortable control of the telescope, still camera or video camera. Removing the handle makes it easier to prepare the head for transport.

The removable quick-release plate speeds up attaching and removing the device. The plate can remain screwed to the telescope or camera, ready to be slid into the head's clamp and secured with the knob the next time it is mounted. Safety screws at the ends of the plate engage with recesses in the head, reducing the risk of the quick-release plate accidentally sliding out.

The TC20 tripod has a 3/8" mounting screw that fits directly into the 3/8" female thread in the base of the TH10 head. The standard quick-release plate is fitted with a 1/4" screw. The supplied adapters allow devices with a 3/8" socket to be mounted on it, including the Seestar S30 and S50 telescopes. These standards provide broad compatibility with suitably equipped astronomical, photographic and video equipment.

The load capacity of the kit with the head is up to 5 kg and is determined by the maximum load permitted for the TH10. For the TC20 tripod alone, the manufacturer specifies a load capacity of 30 kg; once the head is installed, a 5 kg limit applies to the device mounted on it, including its accessories.

Use with the Seestar S50 Pro: the manufacturer recommends the dedicated Seestar TH10 3/8" Screw Quick Release Plate, designed to improve imaging stability in EQ mode. This is a separate accessory, different from the standard plate with a 1/4" screw and adapter listed among the kit's included items. The TC20 is also a different tripod model from the one supplied as standard with the Seestar S50 Pro.

Note on use with the Seestar S50: the manufacturer does not recommend using the S50 + TH10 + TC20 configuration in equatorial mode at latitudes below 15°, as parts of the setup may collide with the tripod legs in certain positions.
