Daystar Filters Imaging Focal Reducer 0.5x / 0.33x, 2"-T with 20 mm T extension tube (SKU: FR2DT) is an optical focal reducer designed for solar imaging with Daystar filter systems. It increases the field of view by shortening the effective focal length of the optical system. The reducer features a 2" to T-thread (M42×0.75) configuration, allowing direct insertion into a telescope focuser with a T-thread camera attached on the output side.

When a T-mount camera is connected directly to the reducer, the effective focal length is reduced to approximately 0.5×. Adding the included 20 mm T-thread extension tube increases the reduction to approximately 0.33×. For applications where interference patterns may appear, the reducer can also be combined with the Daystar Interference Eliminator adapter (sold separately), resulting in an effective reduction of approximately 0.38×.

In practical use the obtainable field of view may be limited by the clear aperture of the solar filter etalon. Quantum filters typically provide a larger usable imaging field compared to Quark or Ion filters.
