This refractor is the larger brother of the popular EQ100 refractor, which is characterized by a larger 120 mm lens while maintaining a focal length of 900 mm. As in smaller versions it is also used by astrofotografów. The combination of very good optics quality with a good spectacle lift, and at the same time keeping the weight low enough for the equipment of such a cash register is the key to success in astrophotography. Along with this telescope, we can also make a small modification by purchasing a focal length reducer (x0.85) and, at the same time, correcting (flattening) the field of view. This way we obtain a corrected system with a focal length of 765 mm and a brightness of f / 6.38.
Optical system
The refractor is a doublet made of low-dispersion ED glass (FPL-53). This type of system guarantees excellent brightness of the image obtained, in particular showing only a pure chromatic aberration. Such systems are very good at observing planets, the Moon, at high magnification of the image, as well as in astrophotography. In the case of apochromats, almost all wavelengths in the visible range are focused in one place. These lenses correct almost entirely the chromatic aberration in three basic colors - blue, green and red, and eliminate the spherical aberration for the light of red and blue. This telescope collects about 290 times more light than people eye in the night, providing the ability to observe objects up to almost 12.5 stars (with naked eye visible up to 6 stellar magnitude). The size of the lens is also related to the optical resolution, which in this telescope allows the separation of stars that are distant from each other more than 1.2 ".
Eyeglass extractor
The telescope is equipped with a spectacle lens with a micrometer planetary gear transmission 10: 1. The extractor allows the use of 2 "and 1.25" glasses. Solar System - objects on the surface of the moon with dimensions larger than 1-1.5 km; sunspots and their structure; all planets of the Solar System; Mercury and Venus phases, Mars shield with caps, Jupiter equatorial stripes and Galilean moons, Saturn rings and the largest moon Titan, Uranus and Neptune in the form of shields, the motion of asteroids against the stars, observations of brighter comets.
Stars - about 1.1 million stars all over the sky, with magnitudes up to about 12.5 magnitudes, double and multiple stars separated from each other angularly to more than 1.2 ", the colors of the brighter stars.
Nebular objects - almost all objects from the Messier catalog, hundreds of globular clusters, hundreds of open clusters, lighter nebulae, brighter galaxies.
Ground observation - a telescope with this type of optics is very well suited for terrestrial observations. The use of a prismatic angular attachment allows the telescope to be used as a very good quality observation telescope with the ability to shoot anything over a telephoto lens.
